If you put in an order with us online over Christmas it's very possible you've seen our Woolcool packaging. 

When it comes to our products we wouldn't send out our smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, cured salmon, smoked duck and the rest of our delicacies in just any packaging. 

Macneil's Smokehouse products are chilled and need to remain so when they're on their way to you. Making sure we protect and chill your smoked food products while they are with our courier is a difficult and expensive business and often products on the market are made of polystyrene which is difficult to store, easily damaged and not recyclable. 

So at Macneil's we use Woolcool packaging for sending out our nationwide deliveries. All of our deliveries are packed with a gel ice pack which is reusable. The gel stays frozen for longer than water and can be popped in the freezer once it's defrosted and is ready to use again within 48 hours. 

Wool is a natural insulator so circulates the cold temperature of the ice pack around the contents of the parcel giving an even temperature keeping the whole contents fresh for longer. 

We've had some great new leaflets made to explain to our lucky customers how they can re-use or recycle the packaging. So when you place a Macneil's Smokehouse order you're getting a lot more for your money. 

Some of our larger retail customers have joined us on our waste reduction project where we are having the wool liners that line the inside of our larger courier boxes returned to us to be put back in to the shipping cycle which is helping us to keep waste to a minimum and allows us to keep costs of shipping down.
